In January 2015, The Westminster Schools introduced JanTerm—an intensive, three-week course of study allowing Upper School students to focus on a single topic in great depth and at an accelerated pace. VOX published reflections on these experiences last year.
The school just wrapped up its second year of the successful program, which is well-liked by students and teachers alike. Upper School students had the opportunity to choose from 44 courses this year, including “The Chattahoochee: An Adventure in your Backyard and Beyond,” Escaping Slavery,” “Making and DIY Culture,” and “The History and Physics of Flight,” among others.
Throughout the program, more than 70 guest speakers visited the campus, students participated in approximately 190 field trips, and 16 classes had the opportunity to travel, with students in some courses traveling as far away as Guatemala, India, and Kenya.
Students also had the opportunity to participate in internships and independent studies. Read more about this innovative program at www.westminsterjanterm.
