What is VOX Media Café?
VOX Media Café (VMC) offers a unique hands-on opportunity for teens to explore multimedia production, journalism, and public speaking. Teens accepted into VMC will spend two weeks writing, interviewing, video editing, podcasting, shooting photography, and learning graphic design.
They will also spend this time working in groups to create their own videos, podcasts, articles, photo essays, and more on topics ranging from video games to politics to music and anything else that interests them and their peers. All completed content will be published on VOXATL.ORG as well as our YouTube and Spotify channels. The sessions are led by VOX ATL’s teen and adult staff who bring 30+ years of journalism and leadership experience, as well as a talented group of media professionals from across Atlanta.
Through this safe and experiential learning opportunity, VMC participants will also enjoy field trips across Atlanta exposing them to exciting creatives, businesses, and people who will leave a long-lasting impact, giving them something to brag about when they return to school in the fall. VOX Media Café is extremely limited and each session can only accommodate up to 12 teen participants who are committed to completing the two-week program that concludes with a celebration where they will present their creations to friends, family, and community members.
Acceptance into VOX’s summer program is contingent upon successful completion of the VMC application and review of that application by the VOX ATL staff. Accepted applicants will be notified.
Important COVID-19 Note: VOX ATL is planning to offer sessions 1 & 2 of VOX Media Café in person in our downtown Atlanta office. VOX ATL has COVID-19 policies and procedures that will need to be agreed upon and adhered to while participating in our programming. VOX ATL does reserve the right to transition to virtual programming at any time should the safety of the participants or the staff be in question.
