Skye Wilson: Hey, everyone! This is Skye from VOX ATL. Over spring break, we had the opportunity to have a wonderful podcasting workshop. We asked teens from all over metro Atlanta what their favorite superhero backstory was and why.
Christian: Christian, 15. I like Miles Morales’ backstory because he grew up in Brooklyn, went to a somewhat hard school, then transferred to a nice school. His story is relatable to how my life was, because I was in the city and then I came here.

Kennedi: My name is Kennedi, 13. I’m gonna have to say Batman because his parents got murdered. He had to grow up by himself. When he became a super, he had to train and didn’t really have any upper hand.
Bryson: Bryson, 12. My birthday is in eight days. Spiderman, Spiderman 2, and everything — Spiderman movies — Black Spiderman.
Makiya: Makiya, 12. I would say Batman, because when he was little, he had to go through a lot of struggle with his family, and when I was looking at his movies, he didn’t have any stuff. He had to live out in the streets.
Abraham: Abraham, 14, I’d probably say Batman because he had to grow up as an individual child after his parents were murdered. And the amount of pain that he would go through impacted the way he saved the city.
William Thompson: William Thompson, age 15. Probably Miles Morales’s because his backstory is still in the making, but he killed his uncle on accident, and on top of that, his uncle is a villain. And then he found out that he wasn’t really a Spiderman; he was more in the wrong universe. At the end of the movie — the second movie — he got teleported to his right universe, and he found that his uncle was still alive, and he was a villain in another universe.
Nevaeh: Nevaeh. I’m 16 years old. I believe that The Flash has the best superhero backstory because he went from being a crime-scene investigator to being the fastest man alive after being struck by lightning. I feel like anything can happen at any moment. You just want to be prepared, and your life can change at any moment, so be prepared for anything that comes your way.
