Frequently Asked Questions
What do I do if I haven’t heard back about a pitch or draft I’ve submitted?
If you haven’t heard back about your pitch or draft within two days from an editor or adult staff support, please email John to follow up. Likewise, if we have not heard from you in a couple of days, we will follow up with you as well.
What happens if I get busy and cannot finish my story? Will you get mad?
Hey, we understand. Life happens, people get busy. If you are unable to finish your story by deadline (or at all), please reach out to us and let us know as soon as you realize this. No one will be mad at you. Also, if we notice that we haven’t heard from you, we will follow up with you twice. If we do not hear back from you after the second time, we will have to move on from your story. But, we will still be here for you when you are to pick back up where we left off.
How will I know when my story is published?
The VOX ATL staff will email you a link to your story as soon as it is published.
Do I get paid for publishing?
If you are a VOX Teen Staff Member who has completed the teen staff training, yes, do receive a stipend for publishing with VOX ATL! CLICK HERE for more information on our updated VOX Teen Staff stipend policy.
If you are an Atlanta-area teen who gets published through one of our community workshops, partners, or submitted your piece through our Atlanta Teen Voices (Atlanta teens who are not VOX Teen Staff members), you do not receive a stipend.
What about poetry?
Please email your poems to editor@voxatl.org. Poetry will not be edited for style, but it must be original and meet grammatical standards.

Courtesies & Considerations:
VOX ATL will always be “teens first.” Our staff will always try their best to respond and support you in a timely fashion. That said, remember that there are A LOT of teens submitting stories and we may not always be able to immediately respond. Thank you for understanding.
We are here to help you create the best story possible, that includes helping you get interviews. If you schedule interviews, please try your best to keep your appointments. Also, please honor your interviewees’ time by completing and publishing your story.
