Through Their Eyes: VOX ATL’s Photojournalism Experience

This fall, VOX ATL led a teen-driven storytelling experience exploring real emotions, personal identity, and mental wellness through photography. Grounded in the themes of joy, resilience, vulnerability, and belonging, this project showcases authentic teen perspectives through visual and written storytelling.

Title: “Self-Love,” 2025

This collection, titled “Self-Love, explores the concept of loving yourself through a series of black and white photographs. Self-love is about being comfortable in your self-image and having unconditional love for who you are. Self-love is about regularly choosing actions that support your best interests, even if you have to do it alone. Self-love is about surrounding yourself with positivity and blocking those who bring your spirit down. Self-love is about knowing your worth and not letting anyone take you for granted. “Self-love” is about looking in the mirror and being proud of what you see.

Title: “Overthinking,” 2025 

“Overthinking” tells the story of a boy lost in thought. On his phone, when he receives bad news, he places his phone down and looks out into the lake in front of him. Thinking of EVERYTHING. Am I going to lose everything? Am I going to lose myself? What’s going to happen now?

Title: “The Weight Within,” 2025 

“The Weight Within” captures the quiet heaviness that settles beneath the surface of the body. Through restrained poses and moments suspended between motion and collapse, the work reveals an inner burden carried in silence. Each image reflects the tension between strength and surrender, showing how emotion can live deeply within us even when unspoken.

Title: “The Couple,” 2025

“The Couple” explores the dynamics of young people’s relationships and shows that not everything is perfect. We see a couple in love, but we also see them fighting and upset. This reveals to viewers that relationships aren’t always what they appear to be from the outside.
