Music Midtown’s 2018 Lineup Has Been Announced. Here’s What We Think.

The Music Midtown lineup just dropped on Monday, and the VOX Media Cafe teen summer interns are losing their minds. For the uninformed, Music Midtown is a local music festival where many music artists big and small come to perform in Piedmont Park in midtown Atlanta. This year, the event takes place on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16.

This is always one of Atlanta’s biggest festival events filled with artists old and new and is growing more popular by the year. As far as Atlanta teens go, this event is always in high demand with people paying hundreds of dollars for tickets for the festival.

This year’s headliners include Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Khalid, Fall-out Boy, Imagine Dragons, and Janelle Monae. Due to most of their recent releases, the excitement for this year is higher than most previous years, especially for Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone playing the hip-hop heavy city of Atlanta.

However, this year’s lineup also includes some teen favorites and rising stars, including Foster the People and Billie Eilish to name a few.

This year’s Music Midtown line up includes some new artists that caught our eye as well. Such as the band Rainbow Kitten Surprise bringing a unique twist to indie and alternative music. There are also solo artists, such as YUNO, who has an electronic indie vibe that really unique and striking. There are definitely more experienced artists such as Chromeo and also newer groups such as ARIZONA, who have really great music and this event should help them to boost their fan base.

We’ve compiled a playlist with a song from each artist on the festival’s lineup so that you can get a feel for who you’re excited to see this year.

One of the downsides of Music Midtown is the less than stellar ticket prices for the two-day music festival. When tickets officially go on sale Friday at 10 a.m., admission for both days is priced at $135 plus fees and tax. Whether or not you like this price, this is most likely the best price you’re going to find for time being. The way they sell tickets is by price range, starting with lower-priced tickets and when those sell out they sell another set of tickets for a higher price. So as time goes on and Music Midtown approaches the ticket price will escalate as well. So the best time to buy Music Midtown tickets? Sooner is definitely better than later.

Even though Music Midtown is an investment, it’s a great investment for 2018 since great mainstream artists are coming, along with up and coming artists that have great tunes for us to listen to all summer.
