VOX ATL Summer Intern Job Description 2023
VOX ATL welcomes current teen staff participants to apply for our summer intern positions. Applicants must have been staff/contributors for at least one semester. Please refer to the job descriptions for specific responsibilities.

Summer interns will be paid a $100 stipend weekly, with the potential to earn up to $500.* Interns will have the option to work anywhere from three weeks to five weeks, based on availability. The first week will be a mandatory training week. You will be working with a team of peers, an alumni intern and the VOX adult staff. Sessions 1 & 2 will be in-person!
Summer Intern Schedule:
In-Person Training Week (mandatory)
- Week One: Monday, May 30 – Friday, June 2, Hours: 9:30 am-4:30 pm
*VMC Orientation Day: Saturday, June 3, 11 am-2 pm*
Session One
- Week One: Monday, June 5-Friday, June 9, Hours: 9:30 am-4:30 pm
- Week Two: Monday, June 12-Friday, June 16, Hours: 9:30 am-4:30 pm
Session Two*
- Week One: Tuesday, June 20-Friday, June 23, Hours: 9:30 am-4:30 pm *(Monday excluded in observance of Juneteenth holiday)
- Week Two: Monday, June 26-Friday, June 30, Hours: 9:30 am-4:30 pm
Applicant requirements:
- Must have been an active member of VOX ATL in the 2022-23 school year (ex.: attended VOX ATL publishing meetings, workshops, events, trainings, etc.)
- Must have at least one published piece on VOXATL.org
- Facilitation experience through VOX ATL preferred and prioritized
- Be able to attend intern training week from May 30- June 2
- Must be able to come to the VOX ATL office for intern training week, session one and session two
Summer VMC Intern responsibilities:
- Participate in-person for intern training at VOX ATL office.
- Support facilitation of VMC orientation for participants and volunteers at VOX ATL office on Saturday, June 3
- Bring teen-led energy and fun to the VOX ATL space
- Plan to produce one piece of content per week
- Interns will have designated time during the week to work on their own story content
- Each intern will have the opportunity to work with mentors to expand their journalism and multimedia skills
- Summer capture: social media posts and coverage of VOX Media Cafe for each week to be included in VOX ATL newsletters.
- Provide leadership and support to VOX Media Café participants
- Peer editing and story support
- Orienting new teens to VOX culture (ie: ground rules, energizers, go-arounds)
- Facilitating skill-building activities
- Collaborate with adult staff on creating skill-building workshops and activities with your intern team
- Community building, content creation, or leadership development/facilitation skills
- Support and produce VOX teen survey and VOX programming promotions
- Participate in daily check-ins and check-outs with adult supporters and fellow interns
