After spending three months capturing moments for the Westlake High School football team, I learned more about my school and left with a better sense of school spirit. This feeling inspired me to highlight this school, to recognize their achievements and to highlight all they have to offer on and off the field.

ARTS

The Arts, which represents the first “A” in Westlake High School, play an integral role in shaping the culture of this esteemed Atlanta institution. The Mighty Marching Lions and the Blue Reign dance team performed in several events such as the Magic City Classic, HBCU Culture Fan Fest, Honda HBCU All-Star Battle of the Bands, and many more. This works hard to establish itself as a beacon of artistic excellence and has garnered recognition and respect within the local community and beyond.

ATHLETICS

Boasting successful alumni such as Cam Newton, Chris Eubanks, Raven Johnson, Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones, and so many more, Westlake High School has an eye for sports. Under Morris Mitchell’s coaching, the football team has developed strongly this season. 

Sports play a significant role in shaping Westlake’s cultural fabric. The pride that comes with each win will forever have a special place in the hearts of the Lions. The sports community provides student-athletes with a safe space to be uniquely them while improving their craft daily.

ACADEMICS

The school’s dedication to providing an enriching and challenging academic environment resonates within and outside its walls. This commitment can be observed through the intricate and rigorous academics present in various academic programs such as the Magnet Program, Talented and Gifted (TAG), and International Baccalaureate (IB)  programs that Westlake offers.
