VOX Teen Poetry: “Why?”

by share

As summertime sadness begun and inundated me,
It caused me look at the time I had with you
As the evergreen tree blew in the wind and filled the empty silence with shushing
So did your beautiful locks of black hair with your smile as wide as a banana

As autumn time sadness begun,
it made me feel depressed,
As the only thing I can see is your forced smile
As you hide papers with hidden secrets

As wintertime sadness begun,
It punctured my weak heart to see that your smile was fading.
As the only thing I can see is the pills bottles on the counter
And occasional doctor visits

As springtime sadness begun,
It absolutely destroyed me, as the world filled with tears
As the only thing I can see is your beautiful name engraved on stone
with bright red roses and white lilies

The world turned dark,
the melancholy days, the unmovable days, the days as if the clock wouldn’t tick,
and the days that I couldn’t bounce back.
I leave a note to my dear sis.

Dear sis, remember I love white roses as momma loved red roses,
take care of poppa for me,
and don’t cry.
You can talk to me and momma anytime.

As summertime sadness had begun again,
It caused me look at the time I had with you
As the evergreen tree blew in the wind and filled the empty silence with shushing
So did both your beautiful locks of black hair with your smile as wide as bananas

I sit down to see both your names engraved on the stone next to each other.
Why does the season bring you sadness?
Why did you keep secrets?
I ask these questions to both of them

As the only thing I can see is your names staring back at me
And all I can do is cry, why?
