VOX and Atlanta Word Works’ very own Ogechi Ofodu is getting a lot of attention these days. Here’s why she’s so dope.
Ogechi is a 19-year old sophomore at Georgia State University who is also a contributor at VOX and a key piece of our Atlanta Word Works spoken word program. She is a member of the 2017 Atlanta Brave New Voices team and just got back from the national BNV poetry slam in San Francisco where she and the squad earned a third place finish.
In 2017, Ogechi released her self-published chapbook “Lost Negro Records” and dropped an EP titled “Intersectional Blackness.” By the way, she put out both projects through her own company Aphro Centrik.
On top of being Atlanta’s Youth Poet Laureate for 2017-2018, Ogechi has shared her a lot of her poetry through VOX. Here is some of her work.
All of that said, it’s pretty obvious why Ogechi is becoming an in-demand performer.
