Teens Talk Social Justice at Emory’s Youth Theological Initiative

by share

Black Lives Matter. Immigration. Sustainability. LGBTQ rights. Mental health in the prison system. Education. Intersectionality. VOX visited Emory’s Youth Theological Initiative, a residential summer program that brings together young people for conversations around religion and social justice.

“I feel like now I can go back [home] with a voice, and how to use my voice,”said Amani Clark from Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School. “Now I know the correct words to say to get my point across.”

This video shares more about what other YTI participants gained from the experience.

YTI offers other programming for high school students. See their website for details.

Maya, 17, is a first year at Agnes Scott College. She finds people and their messy, controversial stories fascinating and is therefore a journalist.

This semester we invite you to join VOX teens in a community dialogue about immigration. Create art. Slam poetry. Meet each other. Follow along this semester’s investigation voxatl.org/category/vox-investigates/.
