Poetry Finalist: “Snowflakes”

by share

The snow falls without a sound
And again and again, all around
Shivers, sighs, no disguise
Twisting, dancing, always prancing

Into a world full of regret
But again and again, it’s all set
Gently piling while you’re dialing
Your loved one’s number without cumber

“Very well, fare I”
You say, though you wonder why
And again and again; they won’t pry
But they don’t know you’re not afraid to lie

It’s a harsh world out there
You think with a stare
Again and again, but you don’t dare
To end the pain, without a gain

And you watch the world turn white
It may take a while to be bright
But you know the light will end the night
So again and again, you tell those who ask…

“I’m alright.”
