Music Midtown, the annual festival held in Atlanta’s own Piedmont Park kicked off in its regular phenomenal fashion. Men and women of all ages gathered around, smiles shown widely on their faces as they waited in anticipation for their favorite artists to come and tear up the stage. Dad’s and mom’s had children on their shoulders, teens were running around living their “parent-free” fantasies, and everyone involved was determined to do two things: Have a great time and make memories that would last forever. The relationship and culture building aspect of Music Midtown is something that’s well recognized. It was amazing to see people from all different backgrounds crowded atop a hill talking together, building, and loving each other. Music continues to be the one unifying factor for people, despite a system that’s based on separation. And that’s what Music Midtown is about.
Although backlash arose about Music Midtown’s lineup, naysayers were quickly convinced once the talent of these artists was shown. Every artist brought incredible talent and flair to the stage and promised performances that these concert-goers would never forget.
I was able to photograph some of the headlining performances which highlighted my personal experience of Music Midtown. Enjoy.
