May 4, 2018, the release date of the upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War” will mark the 10th year of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After “Black Panther” debuts in February, “Avengers: Infinity War” will be the 19th movie of the MCU and is by far the biggest for the franchise to date.

“Infinity War” is one of the most anticipated MCU movies as it promises to be a culmination of all the characters and plots during the past 10 years across the 17 prior movies, so when the trailer finally was released last week, people were excited. The trailer had a lot of hype building up to it, so the good ‘ol folks at Marvel knew they had to live up to the hype. This trailer has a huge amount of content packed in, and when watching it for the first time there’s lots you might’ve missed.

So, here’s the frame-by-frame breakdown of each scene from “Avengers: Infinity War” Trailer One.

(0:01): Opening shot of an orange earth-like planet. It seems like earth, but many storms are seen on its surface.

(0:05): Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) holds a dirtied and burned hand of someone (presumably dead).

(0:08): Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) appears to crash through a building and been found by Doc Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Wong (Benedict Wong) with a flashback to the first “Avengers,” where he falls out of the helicarrier.

(0:14): Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are living together despite one still being an Avenger and one being a criminal.

(0:18): Vision has a human form? He is still with Scarlet Witch in this scene, as it seems to be the same one.

(0:21): Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is seen on the “Guardians of the Galaxy” ship, looking into what appears to be a stormy space.

(0:26): Bruce Banner is next to the hand of what might be Hulk Buster MK II in Wakanda, talking to Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). This also reminds us of the first “Avengers” film, when he was first recruited.

(0:27): Black Widow is blond now, which may be a reference to another Black Widow named Yelena Belova.

(0:45): Wide shot of New York City shows the Avengers Tower without the “A” on it, following it being sold in “Spider-Man Homecoming.”

(0:47): Group shot of Wong, Strange, Banner and Stark in the New York Sanctum Sanctorum. We see Tony step onto a street filled with people screaming and running.

(0:54): Peter Parker is on a bus, where we see his spider sense raising the hair on his arm.

(0:57): An alien ring (probably the doomsday device of the movie) floats above the buildings in NYC.

(1:01): Many buildings are damaged and on fire.

(1:03): Stark, Strange, Wong and Banner seem to be preparing to confront an enemy on a destroyed street.

(1:05): Loki (Tom Hiddleston) steps over bodies that might be the people who were on the Asgardian ship seen at the end of “Thor: Ragnarok.”

(1:07): Shot of Loki holding the Tessaract, which we saw him pick up at the end of “Ragnarok.”

(1:09): Loki might be using the Tesseract to create a portal to bring Thanos (Josh Brolin) to earth.

(1:16): Shot of Spider-Man in the Iron Spider suit that was seen at the end of “Spider-Man Homecoming.” He lands on the alien ring we saw earlier in the bus scene. The rings are spinning now. We also hear T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) saying “evacuate the city.”

(1:19): Shot of Thor, also in an alien ring, holding onto what seems to be two levers. But he’s in some sort of space ship.  T’Challa says, “Engage your defenses.”

(1:21): We get a shot of Supergiant (member of Thanos’s Black Order and newcomer to the MCU), throwing her spear at the silhouette of a man in the shadows who catches it. Later revealed: He’s Captain America (Chris Evans).

(1:23): T’Challa seems to be in the Wakandan palace. He says, “And get this man a shield” and…

(1:27): Captain America steps from the shadows in the same area we saw him confront Supergiant.

(1:28): Shot of Scarlet Witch looking back at someone (likely Captain America). She has one arm extended, and a red glow from her hand shows that she’s using her powers but we don’t know on what.

(1:29): Shot of Hulkbuster Mk II Lansing from a flight or jump from the Wakandan city into a field. (Mk II seems to look a little bit more like a Wakandan warrior suit so it’s speculated that it was worked on with the Wakandans).

(1:30-1:31): Widow is in a fight with someone in presumably the same place Scarlet Witch was earlier. She’s using some sort of spear against an offscreen enemy.

(1:32): In the city, Strange looks at something coming from the sky.

(1:34): An alien ship falls from the sky into the forest of Wakanda.

(1:35): Captain America fights alongside the Wakandan army and Dora Milaje (the Wakandan force of warrior women to be introduced in “Black Panther”). They are fighting the alien race known as the Outriders who will be Thanos’s army, similar to the Chitauri from the first “Avengers” film.

(1:36): Wide shot of Black Panther in his full suit, fighting a particularly large Outrider.

(1:37): Shot of Spider-Man still in the iron spider suit getting slammed into the ground. This seems to take place in the same place where he was earlier. We also notice Thanos is a pretty big dude.

(1:39): A shot of Stark in the same place he was holding the dead hand, looking up and turning to see something behind him offscreen.

(1:41): Vision on the ground after seemingly being ambushed by two Outriders. One has a foot on his chest, and the other holds some sci-fi sword thing. The Outrider with the foot on Vision’s chest stabs a spear-like weapon into the Infinity stone in Vision’s head, and we hear Vision cry out. This hints to the death of Vision since he has an Infinity stone in his head and Thanos needs all the stones.

(1:43): Close-up shot of the Infinity gauntlet on Thanos’s hand. He places the space gem from the Tesseract into the gauntlet. The gauntlet, however, already has one gem in it — the purple power stone that was kept by the Nova Corps at the end of “Guardians of the Galaxy.” This implies that Thanos attacked Nova Corps and stole the gem with his army.

(1:45): Close-up on Iron Man’s face (who is in armor now) looking at Thanos rising above him. Thanos smiles and punches Iron Man in what seems to be a one-hit K.O.

(1:51): Shot of the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) holding an assault rifle, preparing for battle alongside the Wakandan army. Cuts to a shot of Black Panther unsheathing his claws with Black Widow to the right of the screen and the Wakandan city in the background. It then cuts to a group shot with Black Panther and the Wakandan army. Captain America and the Winter Soldier are in the second row of the soldiers.

(1:54): The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) shoots submachine guns at the Outriders, who are now in a field in front of the Wakandan city fighting the army. Iron Man in Hulkbuster Mk II is seen getting dog piled by some Outriders.

(1:56): A s**t ton of Outriders run out of a Wakandan forest.

(1:59): Group shot of Black Panther, Captain America, Winter Soldier, Hulk, Black Widow, Falcon, War Machine (Don Cheadle) and Okoye (Danai Gurira), who was in “Captain America: Civil War” briefly but will be more fully introduced in “Black Panther,” and the army of Wakandan warriors charging into battle against the Outriders.

(2:02): Cut to “Avengers: Infinity War” logo

(2:15): Close-up of Thor, burned and bruised, wearing the same clothes as the end of “Ragnarok.” He asks, “Who the hell are you guys?”

(2:17): Final group shot of the Guardians of the Galaxy (as seen at the end of “Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2”) revealing that Thor is aboard the Guardian’s ship. They don’t seem scared, angry or at all phased by his being there. Mantis (Pom Klementieff) waves.

(2:18): Cut to black,  release date is shown.

That was a lot, wasn’t it? There are a few crucial details I found while watching the trailer. Here are the top five.

Avengers Are Back Together After “Civil War”

While this is obvious, considering the movie has the word “Avengers” in the title, it’s still interesting to see people who went their separate ways working together now. While we still have yet to see Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) in a trailer, it is believed that almost every major MCU character will appear in “Infinity War.” This first trailer seems to highlight everyone coming together to save the world, which is a similar plot to the first “Avengers” film, and the opening dialogue proves this was no coincidence.

A Large Portion Of The Movie Is Set In Wakanda

We see lots of conversation and one of the big action set pieces taking place in Wakanda, homeland of the Black Panther. This also means that when “Black Panther” hits theaters in February, we may get more information about “Infinity War” and maybe even the sixth stone. Some believe the stone may be in Wakanda, which would explain why Thanos is attacking there and why so much of the movie takes place there.

This Film Seems Parallel To The Original “Avengers” Movie

While it’s not obviously isn’t the same, it starts in a similar fashion: When an alien threat arrives, all the heroes from the prior movies must come together to save the world. Many scenes feel similar as well, from Hulk falling from the sky and waking up in a destroyed building, to the scene of Thor looking out of the windows of the Guardian’s ship the way he did when he was on the helicarrier in the first film. All the characters are older and more experienced, so everyone is changed. The roster went from six to almost 60 with more superheroes on the way. Overall, the movie seems to be hyped up as much as the first.

The Tone Shifts Back To Serious

“Infinity War” doesn’t share the lighter and more joking tone that the other MCU movies recently have shared. This really began in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” when all the heroes really seemed to enjoy what they do and do not always take it seriously. Now “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” seem to be in peril as a new threat requires everyone’s help. From the lighting to the dialogue, no one seems to be joking around. Except maybe the Guardians.

People Will Die In This Movie

A main criticism of Marvel films is that they have never really killed off a major character. In “Infinity War,” this will likely change. In the “Infinity War” comic book, the plot led to the deaths of literally everyone until most were brought back. While I don’t know if Marvel would go that far in the films, producers appear ready to up the body count. Hawkeye is missing in the trailer, and Vision is almost confirmed to die since he has an Infinity stone in his head, and Thanos has the gauntlet, so things aren’t looking great for him. It’s also a common belief Iron Man will die because of how long he’s been in the MCU. But we’ll have to wait and see when “Avengers: Infinity War” hits theaters May 4.
