To future me
Do you still leave your woven crown under the bed despite knowing you’re royalty?
How about now?
How about now?
Do your sighs still move mountains, or are they channeled into brown sticks?
How about now?
How about now?
Are you even alive? That is
Do you live to survive
or survive to live
How about now?
How about now?
How about now that the annoyance
seeping from this poem has attached to your skin
like leeches
maybe you’ll realize my bloodlust for my dreams
to have become your reality
and to know that one day my daydreams
of a complete me
snap out into the world
so snap out of whatever delusion you’ve named your chains
for you are my hope
and I am your warning
A warning with the eyes of a mother
Capable of seeing potential
A warning with firm hands
Gripping the fabric of your top and
Forcing you to make that potential kinetic
A warning patiently waiting
Because for now, I lie dormant
Smiling from a cushioned throne
Peering into my room with awe
A territory capable of taking over the world
Unless you dare to pity me
For if you do, you would be mourning someone
Who never got the chance to be alive
Do you get it now?
