Teen journalists need champions who understand both media and mentorship. Meet the three leaders joining VOX ATL’s Board to make sure they have both.
Haile Irving, a high school student at Maynard Holbrook Jackson High School and an active VOX ATL Contributor since 2023; Sherrone Torres, Senior Attorney at Cohen & Buckmann PC; and Aurielle Brooks, Attorney at Arrington & Phillips, will join us for the next three years.
Haile has written multiple articles for VOX ATL covering topics ranging from immigration to phone bans in schools. Haile demonstrates her commitment to Atlanta’s teens through advocacy and storytelling, and recently won a $50k grant from the City of Atlanta to launch safe gathering spaces for teens.
“VOX ATL has been pivotal in the development of teen creatives in Atlanta for years, and … by being a part of the VOX ATL Board, I would be helping to create, communicate, and grow in their respective media interest,” says Haile. “I will pitch and support ideas that promote accessibility for teens across Atlanta in order to create more amazing VOXers and advocates.”
Sherrone has years of experience in compensation law, and in her free time she mentors college students and recent graduates from her undergraduate institution. Her love of poetry and storytelling drew her to VOX ATL. Aurielle brings varied experience to VOX ATL, including marketing, entertainment law, and creative representation with prominent Atlanta Photographer, Cam Kirk. Her experience in the creative space supports VOX ATL’s expansion into offering new mediums. Their collective expertise will help VOX ATL navigate the expansion and growth within the organization.
VOX ATL’s Board of Directors consists of adult volunteers and committed teens who work together to make important decisions about what happens here, how we fund it, and more. We have unique bylaws that ensure collaboration and leadership by teens and adults in our community.

VOX ATL brings young people from across Metro Atlanta together to build community, prepare for life after high school, kickstart their careers, develop communication skills, and gain the confidence to lead. Teens who might otherwise feel unheard or unsure find a place where their ideas matter. At VOX ATL, they become confident communicators, ready to take on leadership roles and advocate for their peers.
