This is a disappearing act.
It is strange how phone calls sound like alarms
How alarms ring of tornado warnings
How tornado warnings mirror evacuation sirens.
I am often victim to surround sound.
Resounds like high-frequency tinnitus
It penetrates
Rattles my bones.
Pans and echoes until my palms are molded to my ears.
What do they want?
Why do they need me?
the darkest bomb shelters cancel the most noise
Blink me from sight
Paint me shadows, pluck my existence from the wrath of the sun.
Light is akin to discovery.
And I am unsightly.
I am unworthy of warmth or vision.
Only radio silence.
Only the buzz of feedback.
