Looking for something to do this summer that isn’t summer camp or Netflix? These five free events will help you explore the city and have fun to boot!

Open Mic at Java Monkey — Java Monkey, a place to get your coffee fix in downtown Decatur, often has live music and open mic nights. If you need something to do and you’re around the area, check it out! You can find a calendar of the month’s events here.

Movies at Atlantic Station — This summer, Atlantic Station hosts Movies in Central Park, a movie screen at dusk every Thursday until July 28. Upcoming selected features include “Legally Blonde,” “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” and “Top Gun.” The movies are outdoors, so make sure you bring a blanket and food so you’re comfortable and your stomach isn’t featured in the movie’s soundtrack! Raurfest, an indoor concert at Masquerade, comes back for the third year on July 2. The lineup includes Joey Bada$$, Lion Babe, Kilo Kish and more. The concert is free for all ages as long as you RSVP. Check the website to stay up-to-date on the headliners.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Concert — Think the only place for classical music is inside a concert hall? Think again! On June 23 at 7:30 p.m., the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will treat Piedmont Park goers with everything from Beethoven to James Brown for free. Go to enjoy old favorites or try something new!

Centennial Olympic Park — On July 4, Centennial Olympic Park will host one of the largest firework displays in the Southeast. The gates open at 6 p.m. for free music, fun and entertainment! Check the website for information on what you can bring.
