Warriors Dominate World’s Greatest

The NBA season is now over thanks to the Golden State Warriors closing out the Finals with a 4-2 record against the Cleveland Cavaliers. This has been a much anticipated win for fans in the Bay Area since the Warriors have not won a title game since 1975.

This year has been a very rewarding year for the Golden State players.

Nothing could shake the NBA’s MVP Stephen Curry this season. Despite his scary fall to the floor in Game 4 versus the Houston Rockets, facing a dehydration problem in Game 5 versus the Cavaliers, as well as trying to shake off the intimidation of Cavaliers point guard Dellavedova early on in the series, Curry still led his team to victory.

“To sit here six years later from my rookie year and hold this trophy is an unbelievable experience,” Curry said during the postgame Finals press conference. “I love all my teammates that sacrificed and put in the time for us to be able to enjoy this.”

Andre Iguodala was named the Finals MVP after scoring 25 points for the Warriors coming off the bench. After the Warriors 105-97 win last night, Iguodala was the first player to receive that honor without starting every game during the regular season. According to ESPN, this was also the first time MVPs have been on the same team for both the regular and playoff seasons since Los Angeles Lakers Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1980.

“This has been a long ride,” Iguodala said during the press conference. “It’s been a great season.”

No one can forget about the Cleveland Cavaliers after falling short to the Warriors in Game 6. Even with LeBron James bringing in 32 points and 18 rebounds on his home court, he could not bring it home alone. After giving himself the title “best player in the world,” he could not lead his team to victory alone. In the post-game press conference, James noted, “There’s no real success if you go out losing.”
