Rahim’s seafood is a true gem of southwest Atlanta. They boast quality food, fast service, and a rich history. Since 1972, Rahim’s Seafood on Campbellton Road has been providing Atlanta with some of the greatest fish and wings in the city.
Morris Wyatt III, an Atlanta Real Estate Advisor, interviewed the owners of Rahim’s. It is owned by the Rahim twins, Barisa and Rashad. They have been working in the restaurant since they were 12. Their father founded it as the first Black-owned seafood restaurant in Atlanta. He raised the twins and their older brother, John, to understand the operations so they could one day take over.
Rahim’s Seafood has both a website and an app, allowing customers to order anytime. Their most popular menu items are the ½ pound shrimp, the fish and shrimp dinner, the 2-piece dinner, and the fish supreme.
The Yelp reviews speak for themselves. Marcus P. said, “Rahim’s Seafood on Campbellton Rd is one of those spots that reminds you why Atlanta’s Southside stays undefeated when it comes to good fried seafood.”
Elijah W. added, “The desserts were great, and the employees made me feel welcome to ask for anything. Service 9/10 and 9/10 food.”
TyRonn L. even said, “We were so impressed, we reentered the establishment just to personally extend our gratitude towards the amazing twin sisters.” Some favorite dishes are the fish and shrimp platter, hush puppies, and wings.
Along with the restaurant, Rahim’s also has a food truck for community events. As a student at Westlake High School, Rahim’s Seafood has catered numerous events at my school, and it is a schoolwide favorite for its crispy, hot seafood. Personally, I have always enjoyed grabbing a bite from the truck after band practice or before a basketball game. My go-to meal is the 6 or 9-piece shrimp dinner. The shrimp is always perfectly crispy, the fries are fluffy and well salted, and the soft hush puppies are delicious.
I interviewed some Westlake students about their experience eating Rahim’s Seafood. Hailey Williams, 15, praised the service, calling it “quick and comprehensible.”
Riguad Philips, 16, said, “It was Black-owned. I felt like I could actually relate to them.” His favorite meal is the 2-piece dinner.
