ATLANTA — Local nonprofit Leap Year has moved into VOX’s downtown Atlanta office to partner around sharing resources and reaching more area teenagers.

“By sharing office space, we are able to collaborate around ideas and be even more effective in empowering young people to build successful futures,” says Amber Scott, Founder and Executive Director of Leap Year.

“Collaborating is a win for both of our organizations. We’re stronger working together because we can reach and support more young people during this crucial time in their lives.” says VOX Executive Director Susan Landrum.

IMG_0992.JPGVOX is providing Leap Year with an in-kind donation of space, however, the impact of the partnership goes well beyond that. Together, the organizations will work to connect with teens across the region by supporting them on their college journey, sharing their personal stories through VOX’s popular media outlets, and inspiring teens to improve their communities through Leap Year’s community service projects.

The partnership also aims to serve as a model for nonprofits across the city. “When I learned more about VOX and their amazing teens, I immediately saw the alignment of our work and knew that if we can find an innovative way to collaborate, not only our teens, but teens across the region would benefit,” says Scott.

Landrum adds: “We are excited to be able to serve as leaders and hopefully soon, be able to facilitate a conversation on best practices on nonprofit collaboration and inspire more nonprofits in the area to do the same. The more we can work together, the bigger our collective impact will be, and the stronger our city will be.”

About Leap Year
Leap Year’s mission is to prepare talented students to reach their academic and leadership potential by attending college and breaking the cycle of poverty. We accomplish this mission by helping first generation students get into and succeed in college through a community service gap year program. After completing a pilot program with 100% success, we are excited to expand our program and support more talented students well into the future. Learn more at www.theleapyear.org.
