A letter from Jessica Casey, Chair of VOX’s Board of Directors

Dear VOX Family,

I am pleased to share with you an exciting announcement: Susan Landrum, VOX’s current Associate Director, has been selected by the Board of Directors as the next Executive Director of VOX Teen Communications.  Susan joined VOX in 2014 after working for five years  at the Partnership Against Domestic Violence and earning her master’s degree in social work.  Although she was initially hired as VOX’s Manager of Development & Outreach, she quickly was promoted to  Program & Outreach Director, then Associate Director.  Susan’s experience with both VOX’s programming and fundraising makes her uniquely qualified for this position.  She is universally admired for her work ethic and displays a deep commitment to VOX’s values, including our teens-first priority.  “VOX — and the Atlanta community — are extremely lucky to have a community organizer like Susan at the helm, at this critical time. Susan adeptly champions youth voice and leadership, and unifies adult supporters. I am excited to support her leadership in advancing VOX’s mission as we near our 25th anniversary,” says Rachel Alterman Wallack, VOX’s Founder, who remains involved as a consultant to the organization. Susan will officially assume this position on March 10, 2017.

After four years at VOX, Jeff Romig, VOX’s current Executive Director, has decided to focus his energy on igniting change in Atlanta.  Jeff will be launching a civic impact firm created to cultivate, elect and advise Atlanta’s civic visionaries and gamechangers. Jeff’s legacy at VOX includes stewarding the organization into its current strategic plan, creating the Homecoming signature fundraising event, championing VOX’s digital expansion with the launch of VOXATL.com, and adding Atlanta Word Works to VOX’s programmatic offerings. Although his leadership will be missed, Jeff will continue to be involved with VOX in the future as a volunteer and donor. Check out this blog post for Jeff’s reflections on this new chapter.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and VOX Teen Communications staff, I thank you for your support and am hopeful that you will continue promoting and rooting for VOX during this transition. We are excited for the next phase with this organization and the many possibilities that it brings.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions about our transition. I know Susan will be delighted to hear from you as well.
